Wise Words-Wise Man
Who doesn’t love a long weekend?
As we enjoy the last bits of workplace freedom, let’s remember why we have a four day work week coming up.
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a revolutionary without ever raising a hand towards his oppressors. His message was one of love. He asked us to change ourselves, to step out in faith, to love the unlovable. He gave more challenges to his followers than his opposition. Many times the fact that he was a minister is not mentioned. We tend to forget that this great figure in Civil Rights history was a man of God. All you have to do is look at his words to be reminded of that. We have come a long way in Civil Rights, but still have a long way to go before we can all consider ourselves equal. Before we can truly be called a brotherhood (and sisterhood) of man.
Take a read-through at some of his most powerful words, and think about how you can apply them to your own life. Let the good Rev give you some new perspective in an area where you struggle.
Oh, did I mention how motivational some of these quotes can be on your fitness journey? Right, because they can be. Remember that fitness is not just about a bikini body, it’s about your overall wellness. Let’s think “big picture” today, shall we?
“Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.”
“Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle.”
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”
“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day, my friends. Go out and make your world a batter place in his honor.
