My journey is far from over. I sometimes find myself slacking off, putting on a few pounds, and having to renew my efforts at being my most fit self. It’s not the scale that lets me know I’ve been slacking, it’s that sluggish feeling I get when I eat junk, or skip the gym. That’s the thing about living in a new body. Especially when you’ve been overweight/unfit, it takes even more effort to maintain the new you. Always fit people may have an easier time maintaining themselves, but those of us who have been on the other side of things know how good it feels, and how much it is worth the effort.
