Mini Habits to Master 2016
Happy New Year, Mamas! I hope you had a great New Years Eve, and only stayed up to midnight if you wanted to! (We were in bed before 10pm, woo hoo!) I am so excited for the start of a new year, and all the fresh starts that come with it.
This year is going to be FULL of new adventures for me, but I really need to tighten up my lifestyle (read: be more efficient) in order to truly enjoy all that life has to offer.
In an effort to make this year one of joyful experiences, instead of stressed water-treading, I’m working on a new mini-habit each month to make my life more my own, instead of being a slave to a never ending to-do list and the anxiety that comes with it.
I got the idea from Kalyn over at the Creative Savings Blog, and she’s even got a worksheet for us to use.
Because if you really think about it, change doesn’t happen overnight. Change happens when you practice small daily habits over and over again until you get it right.” ~Kalyn
It’s not about you working on the same habits as I do, although you’re welcome to join me and hold me accountable! We can all work toward establishing our own 12 habits that will make our lives healthier, less stressed, more beautiful, more peaceful, or all of the above!
If you click on Kalyn’s link, you can download her worksheet, which gives you space for each mini-habit to be written in. However, don’t feel like you need to know all 12 right now. Just pick one stop start with, and when February rolls around, we’ll work on finding a second habit you’d like to form.
Commit for the month, and at the end of the month, you can delight in having established a new, healthy mini-habit.
They say it only takes 21 days to form a habit, so you can even start a week late each week. That’s my kind of challenge! If you’re looking for ideas, here are a few habits I plan on creating in 2016:
January: Spending at least 15 minutes each day in quiet reflection (This, to me, is reading my bible and praying, although it could be any type of reflection or meditation that soothe your soul)
February: Meal Planning and Deliberate Grocery Shopping
March: Exercising 5 days/week, no matter where I am (This will be a month with lots of travel and upheaval for me, and travel ALWAYS throws me off my game)
I’ll come up with the rest of my mini-habits as I get closer and identify potential pitfalls in my journey towards efficiency and PEACE.
Join me on Facebook, and share your mini-habit for this month!
